PPM Maintenance Schedules
Preventive Planning Maintenance (PPM)
In addition to statutory examinations, PPMs provide a structured and proactive approach to maintaining LEV systems. It ensures systems continue to operate effectively and safely while supporting ongoing compliance with HSE guidance (HSG258).
Implementing PPM schedules is a best practice that allows employers and duty-holders to establish routine checks. This will help reduce the risk of breakdowns, maintain performance, and ensure the continued protection of staff from airborne hazardous substances.
A few example tasks of a PPM schedule include, but are not limited to:
✅ Daily user checks for correct airflow and damage to hoods or ducting
✅ Monthly inspection and cleaning of filters, hoods, and duct inlets
✅ Six-monthly inspection of fans, belts, and change of pre-filter
✅ Annual thorough examination and performance testing by a P601 qualified LEV specialist in accordance with HSG258
Feel free to contact us to discuss your requirements and how we can support you and your business with the ongoing maintenance of your LEV systems.
